Dodging on the goal line
Lacrosse Moves: Face Dodge on Goal Line
An attackman knows that his defenders try to keep him behind the goal and not let him get “topside”, which refers to the area in front of the goal where an attackman has a better chance of scoring. Knowing that a defender is trying to force him behind the goal, an attackman can improve his chances of scoring by getting “underneath” (behind) his defender and beating him to the “inside”. Getting “inside” your defender refers to dodging by him on the side closest to the goal, rather than running around his far side. When dodging “underneath” your defender along the goal line, it’s important to angle your body and run “up field” towards the front of the crease, not directly towards the side of the goal. Angling “up field” will ensure that you have a decent shooting angle on the goal once you reach the crease.
