While throwing against the wall, focus on using “soft hands”, where you catch the ball as gently as possible – as if it were an egg. This will help prevent or break the habit many players have of “stabbing” or “snapping” at the ball when they catch. Stabbing is where you reach the stick out towards the ball to catch it, rather than letting the ball come to you.
